What if the world was closer knit, in space time? A place where we all could inhabit multiple (??) something something star systems like they do in old cartoons, they're just a ruse to make us think we might see aliens. The problem is that even to reach our nearest galactic neighbours we'd have to travel for many thousands of years at the speed of light no less, and who'll confess to thinking we'd be doing that?

I'd love to have some friends with special powers, like doing shape-shifting and shit like that. Not that there’s anything wrong with my current friends and their unique and personal talents. But to fly and fire-ball things and see through walls, or take another's body and make it all your own - God damn I feel pissed off just thinking about it! Why can't we all live in a magic world? Who knows what creeps are doing out in space? 'Kay probably sliming ‘round without a brain or face. But maybe they're living at a higher level: being all magicool and having a damn good time...We'll never know so that'll do me.

I don't think that our special visitors would be humanoid and I'm annoyed by all the films and books that have portrayed them thusly. Caring 'bout their looks by being tall and muscley. I think they would be downright big and scary with many limbs to give them speed and bearings. They'd chase down anyone who looked them sideways - which would be about everyone because they'd look so fucking weird, and we all know how much we love to stare at aberrations in our natural world. In that sense I guess that we shouldn't blame them. Maybe if we ignored them they wouldn't gobble us up...but that might be wishful thinking.

I guess I'll just have to accept the fact, reluctantly, that none of this shit is ever going to happen, at least soberly, without the help of some intoxicant.
